Bring the fun to your dinner party

In the chaos of hosting and preparing food for a dinner party, it's easy to overlook what will happen after the meal has been eaten.

Dinner party entertainment is a bit of a funny one; to some, the idea of playing a game or two after the meal sounds like a nightmare. For others, a dinner party wouldn't be a dinner party without the odd game of Cluedo.

Make it interesting

  • If you're feeling brave, you could invite a different mix of friends than you usually would dare. If you've made new acquaintances recently, ask them to come along and meet your life-long friends.
  • Mix things up in the kitchen but be warned; if you heed this suggestion, more bravery is required. If you're going to attempt to add a bit of variety to your menu or cook a dish that you're never tried before, make sure you have a plan b!
  • Play a game. Despite what some people think, games are great ice-breakers. Plus, there's always somebody else willing to run the games, so it'll give you a break from hosting!

Games are a great icebreaker - so some charade cards on the table are a good way to start the ball rolling - then it leaves everyone entertained while serve things between courses
