As if I don’t feel old enough, what with celebrating my daughter's 8th birthday this month and being wholly unsuccessful in shifting the gelatinous belt of wobble sitting comfortably around my midriff, we got invited to Boy George’s 50th, yes 50th, birthday party yesterday. There I go sounding all ungrateful and moody...
It will be fabulous 'daaarling' and if I know George, 'colourful' won’t even come close to describing the evening! It’s just that I am only recently recovering from the milestone of 40 myself and all of a sudden we’re being invited to friends’ 50th! George's won’t be the first; there’s been a handful already and I’m starting to think I shan’t go to anymore - I won’t, I won’t!
It’s like buying magazines..the month ahead always comes out at the beginning of the month before, so you end up reading September’s Marie Claire at the start of August and time speeds by pretty quickly when you’re always a month ahead. So if I avoid anymore 50th parties it will never happen to me...I’m sticking with cupcakes and pass the parcel and hanging out with all my toddler’s buddies. If there’s no party bag, I ain’t coming!
