Jack Trainner: Suspect charged over death of 27-year-old man in Inverclyde

A suspect has been charged by police investigating the death of a 27-year-old man in Inverclyde.

Jack Trainner was found seriously injured on Brookfield Road, Port Glasgow, at around 9pm on 27 April.

Emergency crews attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland issued a fresh appeal at the beginning of the week as detectives urged people with information to come forward.

In an update on Wednesday, the force said a 23-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Trainner's death.

The suspect is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
