I have just been reading all the complaints about road traffic reports. My car does not have a DAB Radio in it, but it has Faithfull WBFM (wide band FM) 88-108MHz and you can program the radio system so it will interup your listening with local bbc & national travel information when it sends a CTCSS Tone, the same for News, Then it returns to your chosen Radio Station, after the traffic report. So if the far superiour DAD system does the same , I quess Smooth you can leave the news and traffic reports out, as many listeners request.

SMOOTH 70s is it too expensive to USE the DAB Transmitters, which are owned nationaly by one company. I hear it cost around £75,000/month for national broadcasting. You only use a small bandwidth, or 80kb/s for Smooth &Smooth 70s, it should be around 120kb/s. My friend says Smooth 70s is going to be replaced by BIRDS SONG ! Is this true.

I am in the car for 1 hour going to and from work. I was delighted when I found smooth 70s on my new DAB as they seemed to play nothing but great music. Then they started with the news and traffic reports. This morning I even heard an advert for some Sat Nav or GPS or something? How long before we have an annoying radio presenter too?
I am not staying around to find out . . another listener lost :(

Chaps... I just heard an advert for the "Queen's 60th Diamond Jubilee". I'm afraid that implies Her Majesty has been on the throne for 3600 years. Whoooops!
Apart from that minor mistake, I'm loving the station, especially Casey Kasem. Much 70s love

Smooth said that they started the traffic & news because they didn't want listeners going switching over to another station, to hear this information...From what I'm reading on hear, more people are swiching from Smooth 70's because of the news & traffic, myself included. Tho that isn't my main reason for finding another radio station...My reason is the repition of their tracks and their total disregard for Slade, Quo etc etc and their disregard for us listeners who request them...Just remember Smooth that without listeners, you haven't got a radio station

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH OTHER LISTENERS COMMENTS, WHEN YOU FIRST CAME ON AIR I WAS OVER THE MOON TO ACTUALLY LISTEN TO A RADIO STATION WITHOUT ANY ANNOYING ADVERTS,OR NEWS BUT YOU ARE NOW BECOMING ONE OF THOSE ANNOYING STATIONS, AND I HAVE TO TURN OFF, IF WE WANT TO CATCH UP ON NEWS WE CAN WATCH TV ANYTIME.SO PLEASE PLEASE DITCH THE IRRITATING ADVERTS.AND DEPRESSING NEWS!!

I am afraid I have to second what other listeners have said - thrilled when I found the station in its early days, but now that it's the oh-so-common mix of depressing news, even more depressing weather and travel updates and lame ads, there is really nothing that makes the station different enough for me to want to keep listening to it. Guess I'll just download a few more 70s tunes onto my ipod.
