Starlight Supper: Fundraising

The Smooth Radio annual Starlight Supper event is approaching, taking place on 10 March 2012, and we hope that many of you are already planning your menus and getting things organised for your dinner parties, all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The easiest way to raise money from your Starlight Supper event is to ask for donations from your guests but we thought we'd give you a few ideas to really maximise the fundraising potential of your dinner parties.

• Takeaway. As well as the delicious dinner you'll be serving everyone up, why not offer a little something for them to take away as well - for an extra pound or two, of course! Cupcakes or homemade cookies would work well, or you could even offer a full goody bag!

• Entertain. In addition to the food and your wonderful company (naturally), you could put on some additional entertainment to help prize a little more cash from your guests - a talented friend singing some songs, for example, or even a whole band if you know one! If not, a karaoke machine could do the trick, with a donation made for each song.

• Play. No dinner party is complete without a game or two at the end, so why not incorporate them into your fundraising effort. Charades or card games are the obvious ones to use but you could even bring out a board game or two - how about playing Cluedo for cash?
