If you think Jubilee fever has already hit the UK, just wait for the real celebrations to start in June! And along with all the street parties, events and official ceremonies, there are of course a number of other ways to mark the occasion, not least with that royal favourite - branded merchandise. If you're clever with what you buy, you could also be making a shrewd investment for the future. Here are a few tips for buying Diamond Jubilee merchandise:
Quality. The more you spend now, the more chance there is of the pieces increasing in value and being desirable in the future. Look for reputable makes and an official stamp, showing the royal seal of approval.
Less is more. Generally speaking, the fewer there are of a certain thing, the more desirable they will be in future so it's worth looking out for limited edition pieces and on-offs - like hand-painted plates, for example.
Hoard. If you are looking to make a collection of Diamond Jubilee goods, keep everything you can get your hands on, including brochures, pamphlets, books and magazine articles. Keeping them in pristine condition could be a very smart move.
Take care. Whatever it is you're collecting - plates, cups and saucers, thimbles or silver spoons - make sure you store them in a suitable place and keep them in as good a condition as possible. Be wary of damp, sunlight and fluctuations in temperature.
Enjoy. You don't have to be looking to make money to enjoy a bit of Diamond Jubilee merchandise, of course, so make sure you buy the things you like and enjoy displaying them to help The Queen celebrate her 60th year on the throne!

I love listening to Simon Bates every morning while getting ready for work. I live in South East London and find the local traffic information very useful. But sometimes we're given the state of traffic in Scotland, Newcastle, Manchester etc. Is it possible to have more local traffic reports please.
Thank you
