You can listen to Smooth Radio across the UK, so we want to provide you with information that best suits your region. You won't need to set your location next time you visit.
1.
These Terms & Conditions ("T+C's") are an extension to our standard
Competition T+C's [LINK TO]. Any rules within this set of T+C's will be
deemed to override & supersede anything stated in the standard set.
2.
"The Competition" is called Smooth Secret Songs and is operated by
Smooth Radio & promoted by GMG Radio Holdings Ltd ("GMG Radio").
Laser House, Waterfront Quay, Salford Quays, Manchester, M50 3XW
3. By calling the Competition phone line, you accept these T+C's and agree to be bound by them.
4. The Competition will run on Smooth Radio across the UK.
5.
Entry criteria: the Competition is open to anyone aged 18 years or
more, excluding employees of GMG Radio and any of its subsidiaries,
employees of any sponsors/partners connected to The Competition, and the
immediate families of such employees.
6. The Competition will begin on Friday 13th January 2012 and will run for multiple weeks on weekdays (Mon - Fri).
7.
The goal of the Competition is to identify three "Secret Songs"
(including both artist and title) from a beat of each. Each set of three
Secret Songs constitutes one "game". The answers to each game will be
communicated to GMG Radio's Director of Compliance prior to the start of
that game. To win, the caller must guess the exact artist & title
of each song, or our predefined accepted answers.
8. Prizes: a.
If a caller identifies all three Secret Songs, he or she will win the
total accumulated "Cash Prize" for that game. The Cash Prize for each
game starts at £5000 and increases by £100 after every incorrect call. b.
If a caller correctly identifies one song, and it is the first time
that song has been identified in that game, he or she will win £1000. c.
If a caller correctly identifies two songs, and it is the first time
they have been identified in that game, he or she will win £2000. The
Cash Prize will increase by £100 after every call in which the caller
fails to identify all three Secret Songs - i.e. even if the caller wins
£1000 or £2000 (as outlined in 8a and 8b above), the Cash Prize will
still increase.
9. To enter the Competition, callers have to dial a
dedicated premium rate telephone number: this will enter them into a
"selection round" in which they must answer a multiple-choice music
trivia question. An automated computer system will select a caller at
random from the correct answers received in the selection round - this
caller will guess the Secret Songs on-air (the "on-air round"), subject
to Paragraphs 5 and 12.
10. Once the lines have closed for a
selection round, and a caller has been selected to go on-air, all the
other entries to that selection round will be disregarded, and will not
be entered into the draw to take part in later on-air rounds. If a
Caller wants to take part in the next round, they must enter the
Competition again. (E.g. if a caller phones the Competition line between
9:10 and 9:50, and is not selected to go on-air at 10:03, then wants to
try to go on-air at 11:03, they must call the Competition line again
between 10:10 and 10:50 and answer another question.)
11. Callers to the dedicated Competition phone number will: a. Be greeted by a welcome message containing details about the call. b.
Be asked a random music-based trivia question. This question will be
multiple choice; three possible answers will be played with the numbers
1, 2 or 3 attached to each answer. When prompted callers have a maximum
of 5 seconds to press 1, 2 or 3 on their phone keypad. i. If the
caller answers correctly, they will be notified of this. They will then
be offered the opportunity to leave a verbal message containing their
name and contact number when prompted. Callers will have a maximum of 12
seconds to leave this information; no other messages should be included
in this period (such as their Secret Songs guess). ii. If the caller answers incorrectly, they will be notified of this.
12.
We will phone the randomly-selected caller shortly before the on-air
round, on the number they left in their verbal message - all our studio
phone lines have their number withheld so callers will need to accept
this type of call. An entry will be deemed null and void if a caller: a. Fails to answer the phone when called back to play on air. b. Is not the original caller who left their details on the system. c. Is not suitable & fit to go on air for broadcast (e.g. a drunken caller would not be permitted to go on air). d. Is not in a suitable & safe position to use the telephone (e.g. driving a vehicle). e. Does not meet the entry criteria outlined in paragraph 5 above. If
an entry is deemed null and void then an alternative caller will be
selected. Decisions on these matters will be at the sole discretion of
the Programme Controller.
13. When a caller is brought to air, the
presenter will ask them to guess the Secret Songs. The presenter will
tell the caller how many correct answers they have (1, 2 or 3), but will
not identify which answers were correct.
14. The Competition will run hourly throughout the day; Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, until the game is won. a. Lines will be open from 10 minutes past the hour until 50 minutes past the hour (e.g. 10:10 - 10:50). b.
When lines are opened at 17:10 they will remain open until the next
weekday at 08:50. Lines will therefore remain open from 17:10 on Fridays
until 08:50 on Mondays. c. Each hour, after the lines close, an
automated computer system will pick a caller at random from all the
correct answers received while the lines were open. d. The on-air round will be played at approximately three minutes past the hour (e.g. 11:03). e.
If the Secret Songs are not identified, £100 will be added to the Cash
Prize and the game will continue, and a new selection round will open at
10 past the hour. f. When all three Secret Songs are correctly identified, that game will close. Lines will remain closed until a new game begins.
15.
When a new game begins, with a new set of Secret Songs, the lines will
open at 10 minutes past the hour for a new selection round. The next
on-air round will be after 9am the following morning. Lines will remain
open until 08:50. (e.g. if a game is won at 14:05 on Wednesday, the
lines will open for the next game at 14:10 on Wednesday and stay open
until 08:50 on Thursday, with an on-air round taking place at 09:03 on
Thursday.)
16. At midnight each night, we will publish on our website
the names, rough locations and guesses of all callers who went on-air
the previous day. This information will remain on the website for 24
hours.
17. The Competition is a Premium Rate Service. The only method
of entry is via the dedicated competition phone number 090 1616 55 88. a.
Calls to this service cost 36p from a BT landline. Other networks may
vary, and calls from mobiles will cost considerably more. b. There is
a limit of 50 calls a week from any particular telephone number. After
50 calls have been registered in a single week (Mon 00:00 - Sun 23:59),
any subsequent calls will not be entered into the Competition; the
caller will be advised of this fact and will not be charged for the
call. This is in place to protect listeners from generating excessive
phone bills. c. The cost of the call is set regardless of its duration; however calls will not exceed 59 seconds. d. Callers will need a DTMF ("Touch Tone") enabled phone. e.
Callers must get permission from the bill payer if using a phone that
is not their own. GMG Radio will not accept any liability for call
charges generated by anyone who has not obtained permission and reserves
the right to disqualify anyone in breach of this rule.
18.
Regardless of circumstances, if a caller fails to leave a verbal message
containing their name and contact number that is clear and able to be
heard by production staff then that entry will be deemed null and void.
19.
Prizes will be paid within 28 days by BACS Transfer or Cheque to the
named caller only. Identification may be required before a prize is
paid. No alternatives to the prize will be offered and the prize is not
transferable. The name, rough location and prize value of all winners
will be available online. Details will be updated automatically when
each game is won.
20. Winners agree to our publishing their name, rough location and photograph for the purpose of publicity.
21. GMG Radio reserves the right to, whilst giving notice both on-air and online, at its sole discretion: a.
Adjust the times that lines open and close, and when the Competition is
executed on-air, including increasing the number of game rounds. b. Offer ad hoc spot prizes to all callers who are selected to go on-air. c. Name elements of the Secret Songs.
22.
Whilst GMG Radio will make every effort to execute competition rounds
at the published times, the nature of radio is that it is live;
therefore events, incidents and technology failures beyond its control
may occasionally occur. In such an event, notice will be given on air
& online, and any rounds for which calls have already been accepted
will be executed on-air at the earliest opportunity.
23. GMG Radio
reserves the right to close, cancel or suspend the Competition at its
sole discretion. Any action affecting the Competition will be publicised
on air and online.
24. Although there is a limit to the number of
calls made from any one phone number (as stated in point 17.b), callers
may enter the competition as often as they like. Entrants are only
allowed to win the main Cash Prize on one occasion throughout the
Competition. Once a caller has won, they will be excluded from further
participation.
25. GMG Radio cannot be held responsible for any loss that may be incurred by listeners attempting to enter competitions.
26.
Failure to gain access to competitions due to technical difficulties,
engaged phone lines or for any other reason is not the responsibility of
GMG Radio.
27. GMG Radio will not enter into any correspondence and
the Director of Compliance will be deemed to be the final adjudicator of
all Competition related issues.
28. GMG Radio reserves the right at
its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that corrupts or
affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper
conduct of the Competition.
29. GMG Radio reserves the right to amend
these T+C's as needed throughout the Competition. The latest copy will
always be published online at smoothradio.co.uk
