This page explains why some of our content and competitions are only available in certain regions.
Smooth Radio is a national (digital) radio station that broadcasts in six (FM) regions.
Each of the six regions broadcast slightly different content such as promotions, adverts, traffic & travel etc.
The London region is played out across the UK on digital radio (DAB) which means that you can occasionally hear promotions and competitions from London based advertisers and traffic announcements on your digital radio, or when listening Online in some regions too.
The Smooth Radio website asks for your location when you first visit. We ask for this information so we can show you promotions, competitions, events, traffic and weather that are appropriate for your region. The website will then remember your location and won’t ask you again, unless we encounter a problem finding a record of this information at a later date.
You can change your location if you need to (if you move home for example) by choosing the ‘Change location’ option at the top of every page (next to the search box). You can also change your location if you commute or travel outside your region each day, or for a holiday. This will ensure that the content you see on our website reflects what you are listening to.
If you listen to Smooth Radio on digital (DAB or Online in some areas) you may hear promotions that prompt you to visit our website, but on some occasions you may find that the content isn’t available if you live outside London.
You may also find that some content in the Email Newsletter you receive displays a ‘not available in your area’ message. This is most likely because we have out-of-date information about your location. The best thing to do in this instance is unsubscribe from the newsletter next time you receive it (options to do this are available at the top and bottom of the email). Then visit our website to re-set your location and register for the newsletter again. This will ensure that you receive the appropriate version of the newsletter.
